Michael Diemer, Vice President of UEF, attended this meeting in Brussels
Michael Diemer participated in the workshop on the new EU Forest Strategy of the Standing Forestry Committee and the Advisory Group on Forestry and Cork organised on 4th of July 2012 in Brussels.During the workshop the report of the Workgroup was presented and commented. It was stressed, that the new forest strategy will have a holistic view of all related policies and should end in an “package”. Barrie Hudson from ENFE underlined clearly the social demands in the report. He asked for a new “sustainable forest workforce” (SFW) beside the well-known sustainable forest management (SFM).
The importance and necessity of a special part in the new Forest Strategy dedicated to the social demands was underlined during the entire discussion that followed the presentations.
