Joint Statement concerning the implementation and simplification of the EUDR was published
Tuesday, April 21 , 2026

The Union of European Foresters together with the EU primary producers’ organisations, published a joint statement concerning the implementation and simplification of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).
The statement acknowledges the progress made through initial simplification measures, while highlighting remaining challenges related to administrative burden for farmers and forest owners. It also puts forward constructive proposals to enhance proportionality and ensure more workable implementation in practice.
We consider that the upcoming review presents an important opportunity to address these issues and ensure effective implementation. Ensuring further targeted simplification and appropriate implementation timelines will be key to achieving the Regulation’s objectives while maintaining the viability of the sector.
