OMO - the Chamber of Turkish Forest Engineers welcomed the UEF Presidency

The regular Presidency Meeting of the Union of European Foresters took place  on 20 th of May 2024 in Ankara. The UEF Turkish member - the Chamber of Forestry Engineers warmly welcomed and hosted the Presidency members form 19-22 of May 2024.

Due to official reasons the OMO Chairman - Hasan Türkyılmaz, the presidency members had an opportunity to meet and discuss with him only in the evening of their arrival during a tasty dinner, offered by the OMO Chairman.

The Presidency meeting took place in the premises of the Chamber of Forestry Engineers Headquarters on May 20, 2024. During the meeting, the Presidency discussed the organizational matters of the Union, the forthcoming Gorvernig council meeting in Luxembourg, the participation of the UEF Presidency in the meetings on European level and a lot more.

After the Presidency meeting, the OMO Vice President Ahmet Kara and Board Members Özgür Balcı and İsmail Hakkı Güney welcomed the UEF Presidency. They made a comprehensive presentation about OMO, its organization and work.

The General Manager of General forest directorate – Mr. Bekir Karacabey also met the UEF Presidency and presented the priorities of the Turkish forestry sector.

During the stay in Ankara, the Presidency members were able to learn about the Turkish forestry. The Deputy Head of Department Ümit Turhan made a through presentation. On the following day the the Presindcy visited the "Fire Action Center", located in the Ministry's General Directorate of Information Technologies building and examined its works. The headquarters of the Aviation Department of the General Directorate of Forestry in Etimesgut and the Ankara Forest Management Directorate Behiçbey Forest Nursery were also places that impressed the UEF Presidency with its equipment and high technologies.

The Presidency warmly thanked Ismail Belen and his colleagues for the hospitality and the perfect organization of the meeting!
