FOREST EUROPE to support Ukraine in rebuilding its forest sector: a first meeting 7 December 2022

A Ministerial Decision to support Ukraine in rebuilding its forest sector was adopted at the end of August 2022 by the 44 Member States of FOREST EUROPE at the first High-Level Policy Dialogue (HLPD).
The FOREST EUROPE initiative “Supporting the Ukrainian forests” is based on this Ministerial Decision. At the end of August 2022, a road map for the Ukraine initiative was adopted. FOREST EUROPE will coordinate the implementation of this Ministerial Decision.
Within this Ukraine initiative a first meeting with the designated experts is planned on 7 December 2022.
The main goals of this first meeting are:
- To launch the Ukraine initiative network of experts, its role and future activities of the network;
- To discuss the report of the current situation of the forest sector in the Ukraine elaborated by LUBo;
- To present and discuss the priority list shared by the Ukrainian authorities;
- To have a first exchange on the project screening and gap analysis done by LUBo;
- To discuss the next steps of this process.
UEF adopted during its last Governing Council Meeting in Finland in June 2022 a support motion to our Ukrainian foresters’ colleagues and will be involved in this process.
