21 March 2019 International day of Forest: Forest and education

Monday, January 07 , 2019 7242

The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 21 March the International Day of Forests (IDF) in 2012. The Day celebrates and raises awareness of the importance of all types of forests. On each International Day of Forests, countries are encouraged to undertake local, national and international efforts to organize activities involving forests and trees, such as tree planting campaigns. The theme for each International Day of Forests is chosen by the collaborative partenship on forests.

The theme for 2019 is Forests and Education.

How can you take part?

  • Organize or join events celebrating forests – tree plantings, symposiums, art exhibitions, photo competitions etc.
  • Join the conversation on social media using the #IntlForestDay hashtag: pass on some of this year's key messages, or take a photo of your favourite forest and share it with your friends.

More information on the special FAO website, using this link:http://www.fao.org/international-day-of-forests/en/

UEF is welcoming all the foresters all over Europe to take part in every kind of event involved in the International Day of Forest process and to support forest and forestry specially on 21 of March.

The UEF Presidency.
