World Wetlands Day

Celebration of the World Wetlands Day at Akrotiri Peninsula.
The Foresters' Association - Graduates of the Cyprus Forestry College participated in ten days events (26/1/2006 - 4/2/2006) organised for the celebration of the World Wetlands Day at Akrotiri Peninsula. The events organised by the Akrotiri Community Council and the Akrotiri Environmental Education and Information Centre, together with many other organisations. Events supported by the Ramsar Convention Bureau.
During the ten days the Association participated in the following events:
26/1/06 Presentation at 25 Primary school (400 children);
28/1/06 Birdwatching event with the association organising activities for children;
31/1/06 Basketry event with members of the Association presenting the plants used for basket weaving in Akrotiri village;
02/2/06 Main event at the Village with speech by the president of the Association;
03/2/06 Educational programme at the Akrotiri Environmental Education and Information Centre with the Association giving a lecture to the children;
04/2/06 Botany event with members of the Association organising a plant identification day at the local wetlands;
