European Forest Managers welcome the strong New EU Forest Strategy for 2030 and offer to professionally support the balanced implementation and needed specifications.

Therefor the Union of European Foresters (UEF) adopted at the XX. UEF Congress in Chartres a new position paper. 

A future-oriented further development of forest management in the European forests is necessary to meet the immense challenges of climate change and to protect, restore and enlarge EU forests. We do not agree every detailed proposal, but we welcome the big line and the intended close to nature forest management and wood production.

Because many details remain still open in the Strategy the implementation seems as important as the strategy itself.

Many specifications have to be discussed within the further implementation.

Balanced solutions for all kinds of forest services including the needed wood production as base for a more efficient use of wood in economy without too much bureaucracy must be find.

For a successful implementation of the forest strategy, better involvement of the forest owners and professional managers is essential.

This position paper was sent to the EU Commission authorities, our partners, our members and forest stakeholders.

UEF, as a partner and constructive representative of the European professional foresters, will  explain these positions and make people aware of them.
